The minute that I received in the
mail the notification that Martin was going to build this
guitar, I picked up the phone and ordered it. It is #5 of
66, and is certainly Martin's most important vintage
reproduction. There were no D-45s until Gene Autry ordered
his in 1933. That guitar just sold for one million dollars,
whew. Only fifty of these were made for US Dealers. The
thing is, it sounds even better than it looks. It is signed
by Gene, and comes with a $1200 kit leather custom case.
It's better than a mutual fund, and you can play it.
